Almost everyone feels nervous at the idea of talking to someone about their personal life, but it's important to seek help in order to resolve conflicts, make changes, deal with unchangeable circumstances, or tackle whatever a situation may warrant.
I hold a Bachelor of Science degree from Texas Tech University where I majored in Human Development & Family Studies and minored in Art. I received my Master of Science degree in Social Work (MSSW) at the University of Texas at Austin.
During my master's studies, I interned at the Texas State Department of Adult Protective Services (APS) and also helped with some Child Protective Services (CPS) cases where we used the Family Reunification approach with the families. While working with the state departments, I helped children, teens, parents, and extended family members deal with extremely difficult situations. This began the development of my systematic approach to psychotherapy.
With my MSSW degree, I worked as a clinician at a nonprofit counseling center in Houston, Texas. It was a sliding scale counseling center, enabling me to provide individuals, couples, and families with the same quality of therapy and care regardless of their ability to pay. There, and at another counseling center in Cypress, Texas, I completed required hours for state licensing, and became a Texas Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). I later opened my private practice in the Houston Heights.

I'm so grateful for you! Thank you for being strong enough to challenge my thinking and to stay in there with me. Thank you for allowing God to use you in peoples' lives. You are a blessing!
I thought that no one really cared about me or what I was going through until I started going to see Martha. She cares and will stop at nothing to make sure you feel that you matter. That is what sets her apart from all of the other therapists out there.
Last night my husband looked and me and said, 'Do you ever think about how much of a difference all of this (therapy) has made? Do you realize how different you are? . . . And how far you have come? I believe that God put Martha in your life and I am so grateful for her.
